Jay-Z will make his U.S. festival debut at the All Points West Music & Arts Festival, to be held July 31-Aug ust 2 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan.
Jay-Z is to bought in to replace the Beastie Boys, whose member Adam “MCA” Yauch was recently diagnosed with cancer and is to undergo surgery.
The band was also forced to cancel other summer tour dates and delayed the release of its forthcoming album, “Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.”
Adam Yauch (aka MCA) of The Beastie Boys has been diagnosed with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node. In a video released to fans explaining the news and subsequent cancellations of live appearances, Youch said the condition was ‘treatable’ and was localised in one area of his neck.
The video explained that the band’s forthcoming album ‘Hot Sauce Committee’, penned for a September 15th release would be postponed as well as all forthcoming live dates.
Yauch, accompanied in the video by band mate Adam Horowitz (aka Ad-Rock) said he only found out the news when asked by Youch to come and film the video with him.
Yauch plans to begin surgery soon and apologised to fans that had “made plans or was super-psyched to come to these shows…”
The Beastie Boys have announced the details of their forthcoming new album – it’s called ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 1′ and will be released in September.
